medea 2001

Medea 2001 adapted and directed by David Stuttard. Choreography by Thea Nerissa Barnes.

Tamsin Shasha gives a performance of great physicality to get to the heart of Medea’s twisted humanity…an intense theatrical experience, a worthy follow up to last year’s equally memorable Bacchae Sheffield Star

A compelling performance by Tamsin Shasha in the title role Bath Chronicle

As ever Actors of Dionysus produced a highly individual accomplished and entertaining piece…Tamsin Shasha brought her usual skill, energy, strength and agility to the role of Medea St Andrews Citizen

Expressive movement choreographed by Thea Barnes, with David Stuttard’s translation and direction, make this myth almost credible to modern interpretations. While we recoil from Medea’s monstrous intentions and self-punishing cruelty, we cannot help pitying her as an outcast – betrayed, discriminated against and thrumming with sexual jealously. Tamsin Shasha in a fine performance, maintains the balance between these aspects of the role, pacing herself well, her quiet intensity made all the ore effective by moments of wild abandonment. What’s On Bristol
