David Stuttard and Mark Katz at Withington Girl’s School, January 2019
‘This was a great experience for our students to learn more about the Ancient theatre from both talks and active participation in becoming a chorus. It was well-received by the students, who had known very little before the day and who enjoyed acting in groups together, however quiet or confident they were.’
Jo Howling, Withington Girl’s School
Our specially curated Classics Days involve both academic and practical exploration of Ancient Greek drama, and offer larger groups of students the opportunity to take part over a longer period of time.
Classics Days usually run for the whole day and are suitable for Drama, Classics, History or English students and undergraduates. We work with multiple Greek plays, and sessions are tailored toward different age groups. Two or three members of our outreach team lead the event, each bringing a different area of expertise and teaching styles with them, to give students a fuller understanding of the context and conventions of Greek drama.
Classics Days may involve a dynamic powerpoint presentation, an imaginative lecture, discussion groups, practical workshops and short performances/performed readings from aod.
